INTERNSHIP TESTIMONIALS

Working at Smith Elliot Kearns & Company has been a great experience.  I learned far more than just how to prepare tax returns.  The internship taught me how to balance work and school.  This internship has given me relevant experience toward the pursuit of my C.P.A. and has exposed me to what a career in public accounting offers.  Being at Smith Elliot Kearns during tax season helped me apply the accounting concepts I learned in the classroom.  The work environment was very friendly and supportive.  I received all the help, training and guidance I needed to be successful this tax season.  I truly enjoyed the people I worked with, both the staff accountants and the partners.  Everyone was willing to answer any questions I had and the feedback I was given was helpful.  I appreciate the opportunity to work with a firm like Smith Elliot Kearns & Company.  After working with SEK for four months, I have gained confidence and knowledge that will help in the future.

My tax season internship with SEK&Co. has met all of my expectations.  I was trusted and challenged, which has allowed me to improve upon my knowledge in the field of accounting.  During my time with SEK&Co. I learned things that cannot be taught in a classroom setting.  The experience extends beyond tax preparation, as you are encouraged to participate in several aspects related to the field of public accounting.  My comfort level has increased and I feel more confident, because each and every day with the firm better prepares you for what lies ahead.

The people within the firm are great and they want you to learn and succeed.  Their doors are always open, encouraging questions and conversation.  As an intern you truly feel a part of the team and your contributions are appreciated.  SEK&Co. has made my internship and college experience a memorable one.  I look forward to a lasting relationship with a firm that is truly on the rise.  Today, because of SEK&Co., I am better prepared for the future.

My internship experience at SEK was everything I could have asked for and more. I had the opportunity to work both as an Audit Intern and a Tax Intern.  I feel both internships allowed me to grow as a person and as a professional. Each employee made me feel as if I were a part of their team which allowed me to adapt to the working conditions very easily and feel comfortable asking questions if I didn’t understand something. I was able to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it to real world situations which can now assist me in the future. I am confident this experience will be very beneficial when I continue my career in accounting. I would recommend this internship to any student looking to gain an experience in the accounting profession. I appreciate both the opportunities that I had and would love to have the privilege to work for a firm like this in the near future.

My internship with Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC has been a very worthwhile experience and I am very grateful that the firm hired me for this tax season.  This internship allowed me to apply the knowledge that I’ve learned in the classroom into a professional accounting environment.  I am very grateful for the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over these past four months and could not think of a better firm than SEK & Co for this opportunity.  The calm office setting and friendly staff has made my transition into a regular employee very comfortable.  Everyone is very helpful and willing to contribute to your success.  This internship presented itself with some challenging assignments, but it has allowed me to test myself and it gave me the confidence to take on even harder tasks.  I would encourage anyone to complete an internship with SEK & Co because it will help you grow as an individual and will give you the experience that you can’t learn in the classroom.  I feel that I am better prepared for when I enter the real-world after I graduate and I am looking forward to my future career in public accounting.

STAFF TESTIMONIALS

“Smith Elliott Kearns promotes a work-life balance.  The Firm has been extremely supportive of working moms by allowing employees to work flextime, and also providing an alternative career path for those employees who cannot commit to the working hours required for the partner career path due to family obligations.  The Firm provides Leadership Development Training to help groom staff to become partners, but is also serves to provide staff with valuable feedback to help them in their professional development.  I have been with the Firm for 12 years and I feel like I have a very rewarding future ahead of me because of the opportunities that have been provided for me.

“…I like how continuing education is so important to the Firm that they do everything possible to make sure employees have the training they need, whether it is to keep a license up to date or not.  I also like the fact that the Firm pays for it so that the employees do not worry about the financial burden that required CPE credits for a CPA license can add up to be…”

SEK&Co’s MENTORING PROGRAM TESTIMONIALS

“From the perspective of a mentor, I have felt privileged to be able to use my experience to offer insight and guidance to others.  Being able to help others in their career path and seeing them grow really gives me a sense of importance and value.  If something I say or offer helps someone else even a little, then I feel like I have made a contribution.”

“Being a mentor has given me the opportunity to develop rapport with co-workers and employees.  They know they can come to me to discuss items openly and freely; they know they will not be judged.  Whether they come to me with complaints about supervisors or need insight on future goals, they know my door is always open.  Hopefully, this has given them more job satisfaction and has created an overall happier workplace.  I love my job!
